“Behold I am doing a new thing.” Isaiah 43:19
This month marks the start of Lent, a 6 week period of focussed prayer and reflection, observed by many Christians as they prepare for Easter.
Traditionally Lent also involves a time of fasting as we remember Jesus being tempted in the wilderness for 40 days, just before the start of his public ministry.
For people in more traditional churches, observing this fast might include abstaining from meat, fish, and eggs until Easter Sunday. While Christians in other denominations will often choose to give up ‘luxury’ items like chocolate, alcohol, or even social media, to refocus their faith during Lent.
Well, here at St. Mary & All Saints we’ve also been reflecting and refocussing.
And so during Lent we’ll be introducing a new service pattern that will launch at our Mothering Sunday Service, and include more contemporary styles of worship.
We’ve also developed a new website that will ‘go live’ on March 6th, in the hope that it will encourage more people to have a look at what we do, and become part of the church family.
So please join us for this exciting new venture as we journey through Lent, towards Easter, and beyond.
Every Blessing Jon.
